Benjamin Philips

Benjamin joined Alpha Property Lending as Head of Property Lending in November 2014, leading our lending team to source and manage development led finance opportunities throughout the UK. Benjamin has over seven years’ experience funding property developments, having previously worked at Pluto Finance and Bank Leumi (UK) PLC. Benjamin holds a BSc Degree in Investment & Finance in Property from the University of Reading.

Outside of work, Benjamin enjoys Scuba Diving, as a qualified PADI scuba Diving instructor, and travel.

Matthew Tucker

Matthew joined Alpha Property Lending as a Lending Director in January 2016, to originate and manage development finance transactions. Matthew previously worked for Bank of London and the Middle East, a Sharia’a compliant bank based in the city. Whilst there he focused on development finance and property investments for high net worth individuals. Matthew also brings experience from the public sector and in Town Planning consultancy.

Matthew holds a BSc in Demography from the University of Southampton.

Outside of work, Matthew is a keen pianist, gardener and Real Ale enthusiast.

Jill Hagland

Jill joined the Alpha Property Lending team in February 2013 and has over 20 years of experience in the property finance sector. She was one of the founder members of the Investec Structured Property Finance Division, which started as a small specialist team of property lenders in 1994. The business grew from a loan book of £40 million in the mid-1990s to over £2 billion in 2008. During this time, Jill gained experience across all sectors of property and funding structures including senior debt, stretched senior, mezzanine and equity.

Outside of work Jill likes to keep fit with regular gym visits and is a member of her local tennis club. She is also a keen Arsenal fan and season ticket holder at Emirates Stadium.

Stan Lersch

Stan joined Alpha Property Lending’s team in 2011 and has more than 17 years real estate lending experience across the UK and Europe. Prior to this Stan worked for Consensus Business Group for four years arranging and restructuring debt packages. Previously Stan worked for Mutual Finance Ltd, Barclays Bank, Bank of Ireland and Westdeutsche ImmobilienBank financing property assets in the UK and mainland Europe.

Stan holds a Bachelor of Economics Degree from Warwick University and is an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Bankers.

Stephen Daniels

Stephen has been responsible for over £100 million of investments in unquoted businesses. Previously, Stephen was a Divisional Director at Close Brothers Group PLC’s tax efficient and property funds division, with responsibility for structuring and managing tax efficient investments, including EIS investments.

Stephen graduated from Northumbria University with a BA degree in Business Studies and is a fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants.

Outside of work, Stephen is taking guitar lessons, enjoys all forms of cinema and is long suffering supporter of Newcastle United.

Roger Skeldon

Roger has over 10 years’ experience in fund management, finance and commercial property. Roger was an Assistant Director at Close Brothers Group PLC’s tax efficient and property funds division, with responsibilities across a number of commercial property funds. Roger holds a BA degree in Business and Financial Economics and is a Chartered Accountant.

Outside of work, Roger loves all things to do with sport and can still be seen running around sports fields across London on a weekend.

Phillip Rose

Phillip has over 30 years’ experience in the real estate, funds management and banking industries in Europe, the USA and Australasia. He has been the Head of Real Estate for ABN AMRO Bank, Chief Operating Officer of European shopping centre investor and developer TrizecHahn Europe and Managing Director of Lend Lease Global Investment.

Phillip is currently a member of the Management Committee for Hermes Property Unit Trust and was formerly a non-executive director of Great Portland Estates plc.

Brad Bauman

Brad has over 20 years experience in the real estate and finance industries in both Australasia and Europe in Investment Banks, Property Companies and Institutions, including seven years with CB Richard Ellis where he was Managing Director of CBRE Financial Services.

Nigel Ashfield

Nigel has over 18 years’ experience in fund management and finance. Nigel was previously employed by Close Brothers as Managing Director of its Tax Efficient and Property Funds Management business. Nigel qualified as a chartered accountant (ACA) with PwC in their London SME business assurance division where he worked from 1997 until 2001 when he joined Close Brothers as an Assistant Director in their specialist tax efficient investment team. Nigel holds a Bachelor of Laws from Southampton University and also holds the IMC.

In his spare time, Nigel is a professional wedding photographer and has shot over 250 weddings around the world.

Lucas Anglin

Lucas joined Alpha Property Lending as a Lending Associate in October 2017 to assist with the origination and management of development finance transactions. Lucas previously worked with TIME Investments, part of the wider Alpha Group, where he assisted with the management of TIME’s flagship product. Lucas also brings finance experience from his previous role at Cocoon Wealth.

Lucas holds a BSc in Geography from King’s College London.

Outside of work, Lucas is passionate about food, travelling and all things sport.

Emily Angel

Emily joined the Alpha Property Lending team as a Lending Associate in February 2019. She is primarily involved in the origination, analysis and execution of investment and development finance transactions. Prior to joining Alpha, Emily worked in the property lending team at Ingenious.  Emily also brings experience from working at Cogress, a private equity platform, where she monitored and reported on over £200m of developments. Her experience also includes working in residential property development.

Emily graduated from the University of Birmingham with a BSc in Planning and Economics.
